Instructors of Communication Arts 100 (Introduction to Speech Composition) have a chance to nominate two of their students for a course-wide speech contest. Out of more than 900 students in CA 100 and dozens of nominees, my student Hirochi Ura placed second overall in the contest. He made it past the semifinal round and delivered his speech, “U.S. Students Should Learn a Second Language,” to a panel of judges, who named him a finalist and the ultimate runner-up. I am very proud of Hiro and his hard work!
